Bloodhound SSC Latest Update

Dear Working At Height,

Thank you so much for all your help with the BLOODHOUND Project - we have all come a very long way together. Now together, we need to complete the car for the 2015 operations.


I am delighted to reveal that we are on schedule, and we have the forward plan nailed. The immediate objective is to complete the car by the end of July 2015, ready for testing at Newquay in August, and then to transfer to South Africa in September. A huge effort has gone into the preparation of South African desert, with the 310 person team nearing completion of the works. We are now in sight of the end of the legal and environmental compliance programme. In addition, major talks are under way with three television networks and we are going to be near to contract by quarter 2.

We are all very proud of the Jaguar deal, which at long last gets us our auto motive sponsor and together we are building a very strong relationship. This deal has had a huge effect. Red Bull's The Red Bulletin has BLOODHOUND's Driver Andy Green on the cover and feature which demonstrates the real media power of our project.

It is easy to dismiss the completion of the car as just a matter of routine effort and time. Of course it is not – it is a huge team effort to get all of the remaining 3,000 parts designed, made, and assembled, as well as completing all those last minute details which had been put aside for finishing later! So now with most the design done and with a good response from first of the Nammo rocket trials BLOODHOUND is in a better place.

The education team are working hard to meet the demand from the 5714 UK schools signed up to the programme. There is now the potential to deliver real change. As an example of the direct effect the team are having, many of the kids and their schools have started rocket car clubs which compete for the multiple Guinness World Record categories. The fastest so far is 550mph!

On behalf of the team I would like to thank you for your support and help to date. Now it is one big drive to get the car finished and show the rest of the World what British engineering can really achieve.
