At the Bloodhound SSC Sponsor Conference we witnessed the annoucment of a huge and prestigious sponsorship deal from Castrol Oil. Their Head of Global Marketing was there to make the annoucment, and it had quite an impact on all those present, no monetary amounts were mentioned for confidential reasons, however it was clear that it will be a sizeable commitment, starting with commissioning a full size model of the Bloodhound Car that Castrol will take on a world tour, from Southeast Asia, to China, the USA and Europe, they will also be taking a large piece of logo space available on the car. Castrol have been involved in the land speed records of the past, from Donald Campbell through to Andy Green in Thrust SSC in 1997. Oil is of course a vital ingredient of a car engine, however it is unseen, the land speed record and Bloodhound SSC on this occasion will offer visibility on a global stage as soon everyone will know Bloodhound, most of us know Castrol, those that don't will soon enough!
