We are very good at listening to a customers working at height issues and concerns, when invited in we know we have to 'come up with the goods', and this something we are very proud to say we 'always do'. This may take a few visits and design revisions, but more often than not we hit the target first time, I believe in the case of the platform shown we visited twice, with just a slight change in revision 2.
The issue at the University Of Oxford was access to the giant bolts around a test chamber. They were accessing and egressing via steps and ladders, and then 'clambering' on and around the chamber to get a footing to position and then tighten and untighten the bolts, when you consider the bolts weigh 10kg each, you can see the scale of the risk that we were tasked to eliminate.
We did this by designing a safe means of access and egress to each side, and then simply protected the working area, ensuring that they could work as before but eliminate the fall risk, this is because we could not create a better working position, if we provided platforms, then they would be too far from the work.
We all know that the proof is in the pudding, and in this case, and again as always the customer was delighted, another successful outcome!
